IPM is in great need for a "standard blueprint file drawer" unit to library our posters. Please contact us if you know of a donator.

Oh,hi there! Welcome back! (For those of you who are new--WELCOME!!) Oh boy, have we had a busy time. When I last saw you we were about to prepare for a trip to Atlanta for the National Puppetry Festival. WOW!!! WHAT A TRIP (in ALL senses of the word)!

We wanted to impress people with the progress we have made, and I believe we did it (IN SPADES, as they say). We made our entrance at the Opening Night Festivities in our matching T-SHIRTS and TOP SHIRTS bearing our new logo, carrying TOTE BAGS (again w/logo) that were laden with our gifts to EVERYONE.. FANS with "I'M AN IPM FAN" imprinted on them. Beth came up with the idea for fans (Atlanta, in the humid summer...A HIT !), and Jackee tweaked the lettering to look like a face. Needless to say, people were impressed. We were also carrying our new Membership Brochures (in FULL COLOR), and handed out our newly redesigned business cards. It was really good seeing old friends and making new ones.

For the Exhibit , we brought two sets of puppets that had influenced each other. Joe Fischers' "Pavlova", the marionette that influenced Frank Paris' creation. This was probably the last time that they will shown until they can undergo MAJOR restoration (they're both so delicate and fragile). By the way that Philip Huber had them posed, they were finally able to "dance" together. We also brought "the Marguerites"; Walton & O'Rourkes' from the 1953 motion picture "Lili" starring Leslie Caron & Mel Ferrer, and Tom Tichenors' (his personal one) from the 1960s Broadway musical "Carnival" starring Anna Maria Albergetti & Jerry Orbach.

We then debuted Alans' latest acquisition-- one of the Patterson Personettes from the 1937 movie "Artists & Models" starring Jack Benny & Ben Blue. Philip posed her just as coquettishly as she was in her scene with Ben Blue. Truthfully (a little behind the scenes secret), it was the first time Alan had seen her, as she was acquired via correspondence and photos, (NO ONE was disappointed, she's a really beautiful "doll').

Well, no sooner than we returned, we started to gather puppets for a VIDEO that Mary Decker is making on Alan and his memories of puppet history. It looked as if it will be really good, and a necessity for puppet knowledge. It will be good for people to experience Alans’ anecdotes on a "virtual one-on-one" level, along with seeing the actual puppets being discussed.

At the same time, Beth managed to make EIGHT hand puppets and the party decor for the L.A. Guild installation dinner, held once again on the grounds of  her beautiful home.

Thanks for stopping by (you're more than welcome to come for a personal visit), but I've got to get back to returning those puppets to their proper boxes....SEE YA!!
